When I had to give a maid of honor speech at my sister’s wedding, one of the things I thought about the most, was wanting to make people laugh. I would sit and have these daydreams of having the whole place in stitches. And what I soon realized, as I struggled and agonized over trying to come up with funny maid of honor speeches, was that I was trying TOO hard and anyone who tries hard to be funny, tends to not be.

I had flipped through all the books I could find at the bookstore, looking through maid of honor speech examples, wedding speeches for maid of honors, and anything else I could find on funny speeches. But there are all pretty costly, that is when I realized it was going to be impossible for me use one of those premade “funny” speeches because it just wasn’t about my life and experience with the bride.

Just as I thought I need to somehow learn to write my sister wedding speech, I come across weddingspeech4u at the internet, and it did give me what I want yet at an inexpensive price!

After reading thru a few lovely samples, I decided to sat down and wrote out as many stories of my sister and I that I could think of. The funny ones, the ones that had us laughing even now, years later. Once I had those stories down on paper, it became very easy to craft my funny maid of honor speech without any effort at all, just following a few basic guidelines.

I wasn’t even worried anymore, whether people were going to laugh or not. I had enjoyed my own walk down memory lane of life with my sister as I wrote those stories out, and it wasn’t about me anymore, it was simply about talking about my sister and the life we had shared.

Ironically enough, when I gave my maid of honor speech at my sister’s wedding, I DID have people in stitches, and I didn’t even have to try. All I had to do was talk about some of the predicaments my sister and I had gotten ourselves into, and everyone was laughing. I admit it felt really good to hear all that laughter and see the smiles and tears in my sister’s eyes as she went down that memory lane walk with me. Both of us had tears in our eyes as I told her how much I wished her and Bobby the best life imaginable, full of happiness. I have never meant anything more.

People came up to me afterwards, teasing me about changing my career and becoming a standup comedian, but in all honesty, the main reason I was able to do so well is because I had stopped trying to BE funny, and simply talked to people I knew and cared about, about funny events. It had been surprisingly easy.

Thanks to the samples I obtain from weddingspeech4u.com, I’m not afraid of maid of honor speeches anymore, and I’ve actually been asked to be my best friend’s maid of honor next. I’m looking forward to it, believe it or not, ME, the one who ran from public speaking all her high school and college years. All it took was remembering what I was there for, and the life experiences took care of the rest.
